Tanvir Bukhari was a renowned poet, writer, and teacher in Punjabi literature. He was born on November 10, 1939 AD, in the village of Bhikhiwind Hathar in Kasur district. His real name was Fakir Muhammad, but he became popular among people as Tanvir Bukhari. His father's name was Allama Abdul Rahman Shah Bukhari. Being a Syed, there was a religious atmosphere in the home. While studying in the second grade, he began composing couplets, and by the fourth grade, he started writing stories. After that, his family settled in the small town of Karyal Kalan near Sheikhupura, where he spent the rest of his education and life.
Tanvir Bukhari made a significant contribution to writing poetry, stories, and dictionaries. Some of his prominent poetry books include *Vilkanian*, *Loe Loe*, *Ash Taray*, *Peer da Boota*, *Ghazal da Sheesha*, *Tazay Phull*, *Ishq diyan Chhallan*, *Gori diyan Jhanjran*, *Sunehre*, *Vashna*, *Sohni Dharti*, and others. His poetry is deeply infused with love, pain, devotion to God, the melancholies of life, and social injustices. He is also regarded as the voice of modern Punjabi Sufism. Twenty-three books related to his Punjabi poetry have been published. In addition to these books, he did substantial work in the field of dictionaries. He authored nearly four Urdu dictionaries, of which *Tanvir ul Luqaat* is the most renowned.
