Harinder Singh Mahboob was a renowned Punjabi poet, writer, and epic composer. He was born in 1937 in Village Chak No. 233, District Lyallpur, Tehsil Jaranwala (now in Pakistan). He received his early education from a primary school in Village Muhammadpura, located about two miles from his village. After the partition of India in 1947, he settled in his maternal village, Marazh, District Sangrur (Indian Punjab). He passed his sixth grade from Dhuri Malwa Khalsa School. He completed his eighth and tenth grades from Public School Amargarh. He pursued his B.A. as a private candidate and obtained his M.A. from Mahindra College, Patiala. Additionally, he also completed an M.A. in English.

By profession, Harinder Singh Mahboob was a professor, literary critic, poet, and epic composer. He served as a teacher at Government Primary School Mahil Kalan (Barnala), Middle School Fazilka, and Dharmgarh. In 1968, he was appointed as a professor of English at Khalsa College, Garhdiwala.

He made significant contributions to Punjabi literature with several important works, including *Sahije Rachio Khalsa* (a prose work), *Jhanaan Di Raat* (a collection of seven poetry books), and *Ilahi Nadri De Painde* (Volumes 1-4, a large-scale epic). His poetry is particularly noted for its blend of Sikh philosophy and modern ideology. His poetic works encompass various stages of life, mystical visions, historical perspectives, expressions of love, and numerous other dimensions.

Harinder Singh Mahboob was honored with the Sahitya Akademi Award for his book *Jhanaan Di Raat*. He passed away on February 15, 2010, at the age of 73.
